Because we have successfully built reliable race engines – we already have upgraded components (pistons, bore surfaces, crankshaft bearings etc) that combined with the eco engines should prove every bit as reliable. It is important to remember that although the “ECO-POWER-ENGINES” can be both more economical (with lower emissions) and more powerful – owners will still only be able to drive them at the same legal speeds in traffic that they did before and as that would require the same power the ECO engines are not being strained any higher. In fact when drivers familarise themselves with the benefits of “downspeeding” engines will be under less strain than before so theoretically should last even longer.
